Alyssa and Hannah were quick to make friends with the other girls in the neighborhood. Jolynn and I decided before we had children that we wanted the kind of home where our children’s friends could feel welcome anytime. We like them to play at our house because we can get to know them and keep an eye on their activities. These days you never know what kinds of things go on at other people’s homes. We feel strongly that it is worth the mess and the noise to have that contact and friendship with our kids and their friends. We hope that many will find our home a safe haven from the pressures and temptations of life.

I totally agree with the idea of having the kids at your own home. We always subscribed to that idea too.
We had a go kart, added a lane to our driveway for a basketball goal and turned our family room into a pool table room as our kids grew up. The one purpose in our mind, keep them at home where we knew what they and the other kids were doing.
I enjoy reading about your adventures on your blog, but whew, I couldn’t take much of that cold weather and snow, it makes me cold just looking at some of your pictures.
