Things were getting a little squishy for our family of seven in our Toyota Sienna mini-van. Every seatbelt was in use and we didn’t have any room for expansion. Plus, driving a mini-van was damaging to my macho male ego. Enter our brand new 2007 GMC Yukon XL in a soft silver birch metallic finish. It took me a little research to decide on which wheels and tires would add just the right amount of bling. Finally, I decided on the 20 inch Ultra Hot Schott wheels and the Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus tires which are one of the quietest riding SUV tires on the market. I think custom wheels and tires really make a new ride look sharp. It’s one of my favorite things about getting a new car. It has a nice Bose sound system with the DVD entertainment system that we couldn’t live without.

What?? Another new ride? Anyway it looks good.
Now this is a practical ride. A workmobile.
Poor Jolynn!! I bet the minivan was much easier to drive!
Not enough easier to outweigh the cool factor of the suburban. Hahaha. Seriously, though, I am glad to have a suburban again. I like it way better. I probably would have liked the minivan better if I hadn’t had a suburban first. An added bonus is that we now have room for one more kid! : )
Jon,
I think we need to form a support group for people who impulse shop for vehicles…
I think suburbans are cooler than minivans too. Plus, silver is cooler than gold on cars I think.
Suburbans are definitely cooler than minivans, they just seem like they’d be a beast to drive and park. But then I’ve always liked small cars! So to each their own and since you like driving the suburban, Jolynn, I’ll stop feeling sorry for you!
It is a nice looking vehicle! Silver is my favorite too…in case you didn’t pick up on that from my last two car selections.
So, since you’ll have room for one more kid, how would you feel about Alex coming to visit you for two weeks in the summer?
Hehehe.
Definitely no need to feel sorry for me, Deb! : ) I am enjoying the suburban immensely, and it’s not any harder to drive/park than that sweet van we learned to drive in. (ah, memories! hee hee) I do like the silver color too. I think it hides more dirt than the white we usually get. haha!
Alyssa would be so excited if Alex came to visit for two weeks! Where are you going though? Thinking about a trip to Hawaii, or maybe Europe? : )
I wish! If only I were so rich and if only I could actually take two weeks off. I’m going to be teaching for 5 weeks in the summer and I’ll be gone every day from 9 am to 2 or 3 pm. My usual baby sitter is going on vacation in the middle of June, and the other daycare option is $150 per week. I thought that if I was going to spend $150 per week then it may as well be $150 in gas and meals to travel to and from Richfield one weekend and then another $150 in gas and meals two weeks later to travel to and from Richfield, because then she’d at least be enjoying herself (she doesn’t like the VIK club that’s $150 per week) and she’d be able to hang out with her cousins!
You should definitely come then! Richfield is almost like Hawaii, right? (HA!) We always like to see you guys, and the kids will have tons of fun!
Thanks, you’re awesome! I’ll let you know for sure as it gets closer but it would be about June 17th to the 30th. The other benefit of that is that when I make the second trip to Richfield to pick her up I can just stay for a few more days for the 4th of July festivities and such. Everyone will be completely sick of us by the time we leave!
You don’t come often enough for us to get sick of you. Alex will probably think I’m The Mean Aunt by the time she goes home. Sigh. Oh, well, I’m already the meanest mom ever, so what’s one more title, eh? Anyway, we can work out details next weekend!
She’s already accustomed to me as the Mean Mom, so she’d feel right at home if you become the Mean Aunt!
See you next weekend!
Yeah, but being the Mean Aunt is much worse. Being the Mean Mom is manditory. Being the Mean Aunt should be harder. Oh, well. I guess someone has to be the Mean Aunt in the family, huh?
Things could be worse. You could be the boring aunt that nobody wants to visit.
We don’t have one of those either, do we? That could be very relaxing, hmmmm…..
hahaha You have a point. I hadn’t thought of that.
