Saturday the kids helped me get some potatoes in the ground. Alyssa cut the seed potato in half making sure to leave at least one eye on each piece. I dug the holes and spaced them evenly, while Hannah and her friends put the seeds into the holes. Max was in charge of pushing dirt over the holes. I spoke with a neighbor who said I shouldn’t water them again until they get a few inches out of the ground. He says it helps the roots to spread out and I’ll get higher yields that way. We planted about 48 potato seeds - Red La Soda’s again (two full rows). I planted them about 12 inches deep just like last year.
