Pinewood Derby Champion

After getting beat by a narrow margin last year, Travis came up with a new design this year that was sure to win. He drew careful plans and even sketched out how he wanted to paint the car. We built it together out in the wood shop and had fun drilling out the bottom to fill with nickels and dimes. We were slightly under weight but felt confident that our car was ready to run. He won all four heats and then even beat the Wolf and Webelos champions in a race-off. The only problem now is that we have to go to the district race on May 3rd at the Scout Extravaganza. Maybe second place isn’t so bad, says Dad.
