Family life in rural Utah.

Hannah had a fun sixth birthday on Friday. We had a small family party with her cousins and grandparents. She chose to have a barbecue for her party so I grilled hebrew nationals and hamburgers. Aunt Crystal made a yummy cobb salad, and Jolynn made a fun candyland cake. She got lot’s of great gifts and had a fun time playing in the bouncy house.

Her main present was a new bicycle, which already looks too small for her long legs. I spent the extra money and got the solid foam tubes so I never have to fix a flat. I visited her class at school and took her to lunch in the cafeteria with Alyssa and Travis. She had fun handing out treats to everyone in her class. They each colored her a cute card for her Birthday. Here is a close-up of the candyland lake. It was quite a sight to behold, measured about 26″ x 18″.

Hannah’s baby bunnies are just over 2 weeks olds and are starting to open their eyes. Today we let her a get a few of them out and bring them up to the house to play on the grass. Max is a little rough with the bunnies so we have to supervise the playtime. Hannah takes very good care of the momma rabbit and loves to hold the soft bunnies. She will be selling them again for $5 each to try to earn some school money.

Hannah had a big week this last week. She lost her first tooth and got a special delivery from the tooth fairy. Then she learned how to ride two-wheeler. She just got on and started pedaling. She knows how to stop by using the brakes and can start herself. She is Mom’s best little helper around the house and keeps a close eye on Max and Brianna. When we have a babysitter, we just tell them to ask Hannah where anything is. She knows how to keep balance in the family and is a good big sister. She can’t wait to go to school this Fall.

This week our good friend Bill Anderson took me and Hannah ice fishing to Piute Reservoir, John Jacks came too. The trout were very fat and Hannah was the first one to catch a fish. She had just dropped her jig down the hole and let it hit the bottom when there was a good sized tug. She reeled it in all by herself but wasn’t able to lift it off the ground for a picture. It was a beautful day and we both got sunburned because of the sun reflecting off the snow and ice. The fishing was a bit slow but the fish we did catch were quite large. Hannah kept busy by building snow castles with our ice scooping bucket. We only caught six fish between the 4 of us and the last one we caught was the biggest, around 20 inches long and probably 2-3 pounds.

For Hannah’s princess day this month we went to wal-mart where she picked out her very own hair brush. She recently learned how to do her own pony-tails and loves to brush her hair. Afterwards we went to the Ideal Dairy for a dipped cone and Parsons Bakery for a cheddar jalapeno bagel. We took our treats to the park where Hannah had the whole playground to herself. She kept asking if we could stay for “five more minutes”, not wanting princess day to end. What a cute girl.
