Family life in rural Utah.

With the hormone levels skewed at our house we were thrilled to find out that we are gonna have another boy to even things up. Travis and Max are excited for a baby brother and continue to help us think up funny boy names for our new Lee addition in September. Max says we should name him Bubba (Bubba Lee). Travis is gunning for the rural name Earl (Earl Lee). Thankfully, the kids won’t get to decide on this one. Dad is gonna have veto power and is lobbying heavily for the name “Dallin James Lee“.
In preparation for adding another boy to the family we are bulking up on Alyssa’s chicken flock. We bought 15 more Rhode Island Red laying hens this month in order to keep up with the growing demand for Alyssa’s Farm Fresh Eggs. We always have more customers than we have eggs to sell. Mainly because we consume a lot of eggs at our house. Between all of Jolynn’s yummy baked treats and Dad’s favorite meal of fried eggs and toast there are never enough brown eggs to go around.

Jolynn spent all day Saturday at the Regional Women’s Conference “Joy in the Journey”. I didn’t get much done in the way of chores but we had a wonderful time playing together. We spent the morning playing with friends and then headed for McDonalds for lunch.

We ate our Happy Meal lunch in Richfield at the Main Street Park. We played there for nearly two hours and just enjoyed the beautiful day. The girls were sporting some really nice hair-dos because Dad doesn’t worry about things like that. The girls had fun doing a pretend play performance on the stage at the park.

On the way home we stopped and played for a couple more hours at the Annabella park. This is when I noticed that Brianna’s cheeks were getting a little red (sun burned). I should have thought to put sun screen on the baby. The next day her cheeks blistered and she was miserable and I felt like an idiot. Everyone reminded me of my inadequacies as a father at church and I got scolded by dozens of women.

Jolynn’s Mother has been living in a kitchen-less house for the last few months as they are remodeling her old kitchen. The project was quite extensive as Dan had to remove an entire wall and place a new glue-lam beam in order to open the dining room into the kitchen. Dan has since re-tiled the floor, textured and painted the walls and ceiling and replaced and upgraded all the electrical and fixtures. Mom just finished these homemade curtains and didn’t want to pose with her handy work. Cameron, Joel and Jeff have been trying to get the cabinets finished up so the counter tops could be ordered. It will be pretty slick with a big island and bar with a sink and even some new appliances. Mom just wants her kitchen put back together. She claims that doing dishes in the bath tub is not as fun as it looks. We are thinking it will be done by the 4th of July, maybe sooner.

On January 1st we were invited to Heidi and Daves for a big birthday bash. Heidi treated us to a wonderful meal of baked potatoes, squash, shrimp scampi and Dave grilled up a pile of steaks. It was fun to get together and see how many candles they could fit on a chocolate cake. The food was suberb and the kids had a great time playing with their cousins.

We had a chance to get some pictures taken this week at the St. George temple grounds. It was a little over 10 years ago that I brought Jolynn to this same place and proposed to her. It is amazing to look back on all that has happened in just 10 short years of marriage. We have been blessed with 5 beautiful children and some wonderful times. We are all looking forward to the next ten years and can’t wait to see what happens next.
