Our laying hens turned 3 months old at the first of November. We hope to see some eggs in mid-December. The chickens are starting to get their full feathers and are looking pretty impressive. One surprise is that one of our laying hens started making funny noises in the morning. Today I have decided that one of our laying hens is in fact a rooster. He is just learning how to crow and it is quite funny to listen to his sorry attempts. Sounds something like a constipated or perhaps a drunken rooster. We still have no idea what varieties of chickens we have. The rooster is solid white and probably the ugliest one in the bunch at that. I hope to finish construction on the nesting boxes in the next few weeks.
