Spring Cleaning and Broken Pipes

Farmer Jon in Dickies Overalls

Spring is getting ready to makes it’s appearance here in Central Utah. Unfortunately, I am not quite ready for Spring to arrive. I have a lot of landscape maintenance yet to do. I have been chipping away a little each day. Things like preparing flower beds and planter boxes, trimming trees, pruning hedges, fertilizing the lawn. All in preparation for the first of April when they turn on the irrigation lines for the town.

Fixing Broken Pipes with Polaris Ranger Geared Up

When I bled the irrigation lines and flushed out all the garbage I got a couple of unpleasant surprises. First, my shut-off valve for the garden irrigation lines had a crack in it and will have to be replaced. Second, there is a busted pipe in my main 1 1/2″ line that powers the lawn sprinkling system. I started digging to find out just how bad the pipe is broken. With any luck I’ll have the sprinklers adjusted and running on the timer by the weekend. We are trying to get the grass greened up so we can have an easter egg hunt for the kids this weekend.
